Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this campaign happening now?

Because more than 800 community resilience projects—previously approved and funded through legal congressional channels—have been halted due to a federal freeze on EPA grant accounts and now illegal project terminations. Communities were ready to begin. They still are and the need has not lessened or gone away.

What's the goal of this campaign?

This is a public storytelling and education campaign. We want to bring attention to the important work in progress that will benefit millions of Americans and restore access to the already approved funds.

What kinds of projects are affected?

Everything from clean drinking water systems and stormwater upgrades to youth job training programs, flood prevention planning, and air quality monitoring—projects that protect health and improve lives throughout urban, rural, coastal, inland and tribal lands.

Who is behind this effort?

The campaign is hosted by the Institute for Sustainable Communities in partnership with regional grantmakers, technical assistance providers, and hundreds of community-based organizations.

How can I get involved?

You can share your story, contact your elected officials, and amplify the campaign on social media using #WeAreReadySCR. Visit the Take Action page to get started.

Would this be considered lobbying?

No, advocating for the restoration of already approved funding is not considered lobbying.

Can I stay anonymous?

Yes. If you submit a story, you can choose to keep your name, organization, or other identifiers private. However, we may need to confirm identity and verify facts, so we may collect some contact information.
